President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that he was practicing karate in 1970 while congratulating Egypt's champion in karate, Feryal Ashraf.

Sisi congratulated the Egyptian champion, Feryal Ashraf, who won the gold medal in karate, saying: "Egypt is proud of you... My sincere congratulations to you."

Then, he pointed out that some bridges and axes will be named after the names of the karate champion, Feryal Ashraf, and other Egyptian champions in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Sisi gave these statements on Sunday during his phone conversation with famous anchor Youssef El Hoseini.

The President said that Feryal and her parents are invited to perform the Hajj, pilgrimage, at the expense of the state.

Ashraf also became the first Egyptian woman in history to win an Olympic gold medal.

Seven years ago, and with his assumption of the presidency, President Sisi has always been interested in supporting and encouraging sports in all its fields. He has taken many measures and decisions that would advance Egyptian sports and athletes while preserving Egypt’s permanent position in the first ranks of international sports forums and competitions.

This was not the first time that the President expresses interest in sports and athletes. Egyptian sports achieved a great leap during his reign, which is due to his great support for sports and its practitioners and his keenness to provide means of success for sports and athletes in general.

In this regard, Sisi stressed the support of Egypt’s sports champions in all games, tournaments, so that the successes and victories of Egyptian sports can follow.

One of the first steps taken during the era of President Sisi was the issuance of the new sports law. New ideas were launched when he insisted on issuing this law to rearrange the Egyptian sport despite all the obstacles in an attempt to break the stereotypes.
