Is China a Developed Country?

Everyone believes that China is a developed country, but the truth is China has a long way to be a developed one.

China, as the world's second-largest economy, comes across as a progressive powerhouse, but delving into the details of its economic landscape raises interesting questions.

Despite its colossal population, China's per capita GDP averages at just $12,700, equivalent to approximately seven Qataris or even slightly higher than Turkey's per capita GDP of $11,930.

These figures are far from the benchmark of advanced nations, which hovers around $30,000.

Furthermore, China grapples with development imbalance due to its vast land expanse and geographical diversity.

The country hosts high-speed trains racing at speeds exceeding 300 km/h, coexisting with slower counterparts crawling at 40 km/h in some areas.

While it boasts several metropolises among the world's largest, poverty persists in remote and mountainous regions.

In the realm of industry, China's moniker as the "world's factory" holds true, but its industries, though extensive, lack the supremacy found in highly advanced nations.

Sectors like semiconductors, which are profoundly lucrative and technologically advanced, remain under the control of developed countries.

While China continues to progress, the journey toward becoming an advanced nation remains an arduous one.
