The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned of the dire consequences of any potential attack on Kharg Island, emphasizing that such a development could lead to significant shifts in global energy markets.
The Commander of the IRGC Navy stated that targeting the island would create a "new and harsh equation" for global energy prices and distribution, highlighting the island's critical role as Iran's primary oil export hub.
Kharg Island is considered one of Iran's most vital oil export facilities, handling a vast majority of the country's crude oil exports to international markets.
This makes it a highly sensitive flashpoint in the energy sector. These statements come amid escalating regional tensions and growing fears that any strike on oil infrastructure or supply routes could trigger severe disruptions in global energy markets and a sharp spike in oil prices.
