The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Sunday that it has targeted a U.S. naval base and two support vessels as part of a major military escalation dubbed "Operation True Promise 4." The strikes, which involved a combination of ballistic missiles and suicide drones, mark a significant intensification of regional hostilities.

Targeted Strikes in Kuwait and UAE

According to an official statement released by the IRGC media office and carried by the IRNA news agency, the fifth wave of operations focused on U.S. logistical and support infrastructure in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean:

Abdullah Al-Mubarak Naval Base (Kuwait): The IRGC claimed to have launched four ballistic missiles and 12 drones at the U.S. naval facility located in Kuwait.

Jebel Ali Port (UAE): The "MSP" vessel, identified by the IRGC as a transport ship dedicated to carrying equipment for U.S. warships, was reportedly struck by four drones while docked in Dubai's Jebel Ali port.

Indian Ocean: A combat support ship of the "MST" class, responsible for refueling U.S. naval assets, was also targeted in the Indian Ocean.

Regional Repercussions

The IRGC’s announcement follows a period of extreme volatility in the Middle East, characterized by mutual strikes between Iran, Israel, and the United States. The targeting of facilities in Kuwait and the UAE represents a broadening of the conflict zone, drawing in regional logistics hubs.

Oman and other regional neighbors have reportedly condemned the strikes, while international monitors warn that the disruption of key ports like Jebel Ali could have immediate impacts on global trade and energy security.
