Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani arrived Sunday in Syria on an official visit to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations and issues of common concern.
According to the media office of the Iraqi prime minister, "Al-Sudani headed the Iraqi delegation in the expanded talks held with the Syrian side, headed by President Bashar al-Assad."
The prime minister would also discuss trade and economic cooperation and possibilities for reopening an oil export pipeline in the Mediterranean, which could help Iraq diversify its export routes, Farhad Alaaldin foreign affairs adviser to the prime minister, said.
The talks included ways to enhance and develop cooperation and partnership between the two countries, and explore prospects for expanding exchange in the fields of economy, transport, trade, tourism, water and confronting the effects of climate change.
