Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the importance of the existing relations between his country and European Union (EU).
"The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, at the Baghdad Palace, the European Union's ambassador to Iraq, Phile Fariola, on the occasion of the end of his duties," Iraqi Presidency said in a statment.
During the meeting, Rashid stressed the importance of the existing relations between Iraq and EU and their development in many important areas, including issues of freedoms and human rights and the fight against terrorism and corruption, pointing out to the need to work to strengthen and develop them in a way that serves common interests.
Moreover, he praised ambassador Fariola's role during his tenure in developing bilateral relations, wishing him success in his future duties.
