Iraqi Prime Minister (PM) Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani discussed the latest regional and international developments with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, focusing on preventing the current events from escalating further.
This was according to a statement from the Iraqi Council of Ministers, reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), following a phone call between Al-Sudani and Blinken.
During the call, Al-Sudani emphasized that preventing escalation in the region is contingent on stopping Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, preventing its expansion into Lebanon, restraining and curbing Benjamin Netanyahu and his government, stopping the occupation authorities from attacking regional countries, ending their repeated violations of international law and sovereignty, and their attempts to spread conflict and widen crises.
For his part, the US Secretary of State expressed his country's desire for Iraq to play a role in stabilizing the region and preventing escalation from various parties, continuing Baghdad's efforts to support regional stability and peace.
