Nabila Makram Abdel-Shaheed, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs , met Evan Faiq Gabbro, Iraqi Minister of Immigration and Migrants, to discuss joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of immigration and immigrants and exchange experiences.
Iraq seeks to benefit from the Egyptian experience and expertise in the field of immigration care and link them to projects of development in their motherland and explain the mechanisms and programs of work activated in this context. Egyptian Iraqi cooperation :
This visit comes within the framework of following up the meetings of the Egyptian-Iraqi Higher Committee, which was held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, days ago.
The meeting was headed by the prime ministers of the two countries, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, the Egyptian Prime Minister, and Dr. Mustafa Al-Kazemi, the Iraqi Prime Minister.
During the current period, an Iraqi ministerial delegation headed by the Iraqi Minister of Planning, Eng. Khaled Battal, and the Ministers of Electricity, Agriculture, Industry and Minerals, Health, Construction and Housing, Immigration and Immigrants are visiting Egypt, in addition to the Secretary General of the Iraqi Council of Ministers.
Ambassador Nabila Makram welcomed the maximizing of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Iraq in the file of migrants and expatriates, and work to exchange experiences and previous experiences in this important file with the Iraqi Ministry of Immigration and Expatriates, especially since Iraq has a large number of immigrants abroad, which contributes to strengthening the means of joint coordination to review the experience Egyptian people in linking Egyptians abroad with their motherland.
She also reviewed the strategy of her ministry to benefit from the Egyptian immigrant minds in various fields through a series of "Egypt Can" conferences that aimed to attract Egyptian expertise abroad to benefit from them in national projects.
During its past five sessions, the conference discussed important topics such as education, investment, irrigation, and discussed.
The sixth edition focuses on the advancement of the Egyptian industry. On the other hand, the Iraqi Minister of Immigration,

She stressed her aspiration to achieve joint bilateral cooperation to exchange experiences with the Egyptian Ministry of Immigration, especially because of its successes in the migrant file, on top of it is linking citizens abroad with their homeland, and developing a strategy to benefit from immigrant minds in the national projects that the Egyptian state is working on at that stage.
The Iraqi Minister pointed to the strong Egyptian-Iraqi relations, which are embodied in the current stage in agreements and joint cooperation between the two countries in a number of important areas, including the issue of immigration and immigrants.

The two ministers also discussed ways of joint cooperation between Egypt and Iraq in the field of migration and immigrants, as well as exchanging experiences on the Egyptian experience and expertise in the field of migrant care, linking them to development and how to benefit from them in the development of the Iraqi state.
They explained the mechanisms and programs of work activated in this context, in addition to discussing the proposed joint cooperation mechanisms.
The two minister consented on exchanging Egyptian experiences and experiences in the field of caring for immigrants and linking them to their homeland.
They discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation paths with Iraq and creating joint work mechanisms in various fields to support diplomatic efforts and deepen the bond between Egypt and Iraq, the government and people.
The meeting also dealt with a number of challenges facing the two ministries during that stage, the most important of which is the war of obliterating the national identity that Egyptians and Iraqis abroad are exposed to, and the steps taken by the Egyptian Ministry of Immigration towards addressing these matters through the meetings and camps consecrated for the second and third generations of Egyptians abroad, which aim to immunize them from any false ideas that some promote externally, as well as the "Speak Arabic" initiative, which is sponsored by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and aims to preserve the Arab and Egyptian identity of the children of Egyptians abroad.
It is expected that the coming period will witness the preparation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Egyptian Ministry of Immigration and its Iraqi counterpart, which includes a joint work plan for the exchange of experiences in the issue of immigration and immigrants through holding conferences, training courses and joint workshops between the two sides.
