Iraq’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf, met Monday with UNRWA’s West Bank Director and Cairo representative, Mr. Olaf-Frederic, to address escalating regional instability.
The officials discussed UNRWA’s critical humanitarian services, including health and education for Palestinian refugees, amid growing operational challenges. A central focus was the fallout from the ongoing conflict involving Iran, with both parties warning that regional tensions are severely impacting political and economic stability across neighboring states.
Ambassador Khalaf and the UNRWA official emphasized that continued escalation disproportionately harms vulnerable populations and fragile zones. They issued a joint call for intensified international diplomatic efforts to contain the conflict and support peaceful solutions to prevent a total humanitarian collapse in the region.
