The Iraqi Ministry of Transportation announced on Saturday evening that Iraqi Airways has resumed its flights. The ministry's media office confirmed the news in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
This announcement comes after a day of disruptions at Baghdad International Airport, where numerous flights were delayed, leading to visible chaos.
Social media users shared videos capturing the disarray at the airport earlier on Saturday.
In response to the disruptions, Minister of Transportation Razak Muhibis Al-Saadawi has formed an investigative committee, headed by the ministry's administrative agent, to look into the circumstances surrounding the delays at Baghdad International Airport.
The committee was established during a meeting at the airport, which was also attended by the Prime Minister's advisor on transport, customs, and border affairs, General Sami Al-Sudani.
The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, led by Chief Benkin Rikani, has been tasked with addressing the flight crisis at Baghdad International Airport, following a directive from Prime Minister Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani.
An immediate investigation has been launched to identify those responsible for the disruptions.
According to sources cited by Shafaq News, the chaos was attributed to poor planning and pilots exceeding their legal flight hours, coupled with the absence of on-site airport officials.
