Iraq, Iran Discuss Progress on New US-Tehran Negotiation, Regional De-escalation

​The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, the latest developments in the recent negotiations between Tehran and Washington, noting the progress achieved in the latest round, particularly regarding the new negotiating paper.

​In a phone call on Saturday, both sides emphasized the important role played by Pakistan in this framework, praising its supportive efforts to ensure the success of the negotiating endeavors, while also pointing out the significance of Qatar's involvement at this stage.

​For his part, Hussein commended the major efforts exerted by Minister Abbas Araghchi to push the negotiating process forward.

Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of Ending military operations as quickly as possible in the Strait of Hormuz and working towards lifting the blockade on Iran.

​At the conclusion of the call, Hussein expressed Iraq's anticipation of hearing positive news that leads to ending the war and restoring stability and normalcy for the peoples of the region, reiterating his gratitude to his Iranian counterpart for maintaining communication and briefing him on the negotiation outcomes.
