Iraq Evacuates Hundreds of Nationals Stranded in India

Iraq's airlines has started evacuating hundreds of Iraqi nationals stranded in India due to suspending flights between the two countries after worsening of the health catastrophe there related to the mutated Coronavirus( known also as COVID-19)  strain there.

According to information published in Baghdad, the Iraqi authorities planned to evacuate some 400 citizens stranded in India who went there for treatment.

On the other hand, the Iraqi Minister of Health has announced

that it will obligate the returnees to enter quarantine in a hotel to reassure that they do not contract the mutated virus.

During the last few days, the Iraqis who were stranded in India appeared on video clips appealing to the government of Mustafa Al-Kadhemy to allot airplanes to return them to their homeland.

They said that they have been stranded in India for two months and the Indian hospital refused to admit them and they couldn't stay anymore in the country be3cause of the complicated health situation there.

They complained that no one responds to their drastic situation in India.

However, information circulated in Iraq about the spreading of the Indian strain of COVID-19, meanwhile, the Iraqi airlines announced suspending of flights from and to India to avoid transmitting the deadly virus to the Iraqi territories.

In another co0ntext, the Iraqi Minister of Transportation, revealed yesterday, Monday, that the first flight will head for India today, Tuesday,  to evacuates the citizens stranded there.

The minister issued a statement that said that in light of Iraq's Prime Minister (PM) and the Minister of Transportation, the first exceptional flight heads for India in response to the entreaty of the stranded citizens in India.

On the other hand, Iraq's Ministry of Health affirmed that a new shipment of anti-Corona vaccine produced by Pfizer, a US pharmaceutical giant, arrived in Iraq according to the schedule of delivery.

The press release issued by the ministry assured that another shipment will be weekly brought to Iraq.
