An Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on Friday, signaling renewed diplomatic engagement amid ongoing regional tensions and stalled negotiations with the United States.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with Army Chief Asim Munir and other senior officials. The high-level reception underscores the importance Islamabad places on its diplomatic role in the current crisis.
The visit comes weeks after the first round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States, held in Pakistan on April 11, ended without a breakthrough. Key issues, including Tehran’s nuclear program and security concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, remain unresolved.
Analysts say the latest visit could pave the way for further negotiations, though expectations for immediate progress remain limited. With tensions still elevated, Pakistan’s role as a diplomatic intermediary is increasingly under scrutiny as both sides weigh their next moves.
