Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his country will not submit to any power or entity, emphasizing that his government will not sacrifice the nation's dignity for personal comfort. Pezeshkian acknowledged that Iran is facing challenges as a result of the ongoing war, remarking, "We must not give the false impression that the enemy is collapsing while we are prospering; both sides are experiencing difficulties."
These statements come following a report from Reuters, which cited a well-informed Pakistani source indicating that Islamabad submitted a revised Iranian proposal to the United States aimed at ending the war amidst stalled negotiations between both parties. The source mentioned on Monday that there may not be enough time to resolve the differences between the two sides, adding, "We don't have much time to bridge the gaps, as they continue to change their conditions and objectives."
Negotiations have stalled amid escalating mutual threats. US President Donald Trump warned Tehran on Sunday of "serious consequences" if it did not present an "updated proposal as soon as possible" to his administration.
In response, Iran rejected Washington's conditions, calling them "surrender terms." Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that there is no alternative to recognizing the full rights of the Iranian people, as outlined in the "14-point proposal" that Tehran recently submitted to Washington through Pakistani mediation. He cautioned Trump that any other option would lead to "failure after failure" for Washington.
