Tel Aviv witnessed extensive destruction early Saturday following a wave of Iranian missile strikes that triggered air-raid sirens across several Israeli cities, according to Israeli authorities and media reports.
The Israeli Home Front Command said sirens sounded in Tel Aviv after missiles were detected heading toward Israeli territory. Alerts were also activated in Jerusalem, Ashdod and Ashkelon as air defense systems attempted to intercept the incoming projectiles.
Explosions were reported in Jerusalem following the missile launches, while interception operations resulted in falling debris in several areas. Rocket fragments reportedly landed in the town of Huwwara south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank after Israeli air defenses intercepted some of the missiles.
Initial assessments indicated significant damage in Tel Aviv, where about 40 buildings were affected by the strikes. Emergency services evacuated around 200 residents from damaged structures as rescue teams continued to assess the situation.
According to Xinhua, Israel's national emergency service MDA said that at least 20 people were injured in Tel Aviv during Iran's latest round of strikes on Israel.
MDA also noted that a 40-year-old man is in a serious condition with a shrapnel wound.
Local authorities described the destruction in parts of Tel Aviv as extensive, with search and rescue operations underway to ensure no victims remained trapped under debris.
The missile barrage marks a major escalation in regional tensions, as Israel’s air defense systems remained on high alert amid concerns over further potential attacks.
