Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that his country engaged with the United States in good faith to end the conflict, through intensive high-level talks described as the most significant in 47 years.
Araghchi explained that just as Tehran was on the verge of signing the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding," it was met with a hardline approach, shifting objectives, and a blockade—factors that ultimately hindered the reaching of an agreement.
He added that "no lessons were learned from the Islamabad negotiations," emphasizing that "goodwill begets goodwill, and hostility begets hostility."
His remarks signal a need for a shift in approach to achieve any genuine understanding.
