Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, stated on Thursday that the United States would bear responsibility for any "uncontrollable consequences" resulting from any act of aggression against his country.
In a formal letter to the UN Security Council, Iravani said that Iran is informing the Council that it faces "a clear American threat of the use of force."
He added, "We demand an end to all threats and illegal acts that destabilize Iran," emphasizing that in the event of any attack, Tehran "will take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty, territory, and people."
This diplomatic warning follows remarks made by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Wednesday.
In an interview with CNN, Ghalibaf suggested that while U.S. President Donald Trump "might be able to start a war, he would not have control over how it ends."
