Iran has suspended all of its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding after accusing the US of violating the agreement, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on Saturday.

According to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, Gharibabadi said Tehran halted its obligations after Washington failed to honor its commitments, adding that Iran's current priority is defending the country.

He said negotiations had been underway before the US allegedly breached the agreement and carried out what Tehran described as hostile actions, insisting that Iran's response had shown such actions would not achieve their objectives.

Separately, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations accused the UN Security Council of failing to respond to what he described as US attacks on civilians in Iran.

The latest developments come after China and Pakistan called for an immediate ceasefire and the resumption of US-Iran negotiations.

Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump said the ceasefire with Iran was no longer in effect, while Iran later announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until US military intervention in the region ends.
