Iran Starts Vaccinating Population against Coronavirus with Home-made Vaccine

The Iranian Health authorizes started today, Saturday using a home-made vaccines  called "Iran Barakt" in vaccinating population in Mashhad, the second populous city in Iran,  against the Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19).

Local media outlets quoted medical sources as saying the campaign of vaccinating  will start in other governorates across Iran .

Earlier this week, Ali Rabei, a spokesman for the Iranian government, said as soon as the authorities receive the local –made vaccine, program of vaccination in the country will be widened on a large scale.

On February 9, Iran launched a campaign of vaccination against the COVID-19 with the Russian-made Sputink7 and the Chinese one Sinopharm.

Hassan Galeeli, Director of Research of Barakt vaccine, announced at the end of last month, that some one million doses of the local vaccine.

He indicated that 18 million other doses will be produced by next September.

He assured that since the day of conducting the clinical trials, the mass production was on the schedule.

He affirmed that "Shifapharmmed"  an Iranian pharmaceutical company runs two lines of production and the second stage of production.

Galeeli added that the first stage has been commenced since few weeks.

He revealed about three doses will be produced in June and production will be increased in July to reach 18 million doses by September.

He assured that researchers are working hard to upgrade the effectiveness of the local vaccine.

On the other hand, the Iranian authorities affirmed that the  number of infection with Coronavirus declined in the country.

People who have received the first dose of the anti-corona vaccine will get the second dose soon.

Ali Reza Raiesi, a spokesman for the National Committee to Fight COVID-19 in Iran, said that people adhere to health recommendations estimated at 70% but more adherence is still required.

He indicated that the general rate of infection is declining now but the situation in the southern and eastern governorates very dire.
