Iran is pursuing a level of uranium enrichment that meets the requirements of its peaceful nuclear program, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Thursday.

In his remarks, Araghchi affirmed that Tehran’s nuclear activities are aimed at fulfilling the needs of what he described as a civilian program.

Also, the Iranian foreign minister sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of opposing peace and diplomacy and seeking to draw the United States into a war with Iran.

“Netanyahu does not want peace or diplomacy and is trying to drag the United States into a war with Iran,” Araghchi was quoted as saying.

The comments come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing international scrutiny of Iran’s nuclear activities, which Western powers say have exceeded the limits set under the 2015 nuclear agreement. Tehran maintains that its program is peaceful and denies seeking nuclear weapons.

There was no immediate response from Israeli or U.S. officials to Araghchi’s statements.
