Iran said it is prepared to confront any hostile actions, while calling for continued diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation in the region, according to statement released on Wednesday by the the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told his Chinese counterpart that Tehran stands ready to respond to any acts of aggression, without providing further details, the statement read.
It added that Araghchi also stressed to his Saudi counterpart the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels among regional countries to avoid a deterioration in tensions.
The remarks come amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East, with ongoing concerns over security, energy routes and the risk of broader confrontation.
Recent diplomatic contacts between regional and international actors have focused on balancing deterrence with efforts to contain escalation, as calls grow for dialogue to stabilise the situation.
