Iran Says Majority of Victims in Israeli Strikes Are Civilians, Hospital Hit in Kermanshah

Iranian officials have accused Israel of targeting civilian infrastructure in a series of strikes that have left hundreds dead, including patients and medical staff at a hospital in western Iran.

According to Iranian state media, an Israeli airstrike hit a hospital in the city of Kermanshah, resulting in multiple casualties and severe damage to the facility. This latest attack is part of an escalating campaign of Israeli military action that began on Friday and has since claimed the lives of at least 224 people across Iran, according to official figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry.

Iranian authorities said the vast majority of those killed are civilians, including women and children, and accused Israel of deliberately striking non-military sites.

“This is a clear violation of international humanitarian law,” said a spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry. “Hospitals, schools, and residential areas have no place in military operations. The Israeli regime must be held accountable for these war crimes.”

Footage broadcast on Iranian news channels showed emergency workers sifting through rubble and treating survivors outside the Kermanshah hospital. Local officials reported a "catastrophic" situation on the ground, with many victims still trapped under debris.

Israel has not officially commented on the strike in Kermanshah but has previously stated that its operations are aimed at dismantling Iranian military infrastructure and preventing further attacks on Israeli territory.

The recent hostilities have further heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, as international calls for de-escalation continue to grow. The United Nations has urged both sides to exercise restraint and avoid targeting civilians.

As tensions persist, humanitarian agencies warn of a looming crisis in affected areas, with hospitals overwhelmed and medical supplies dwindling.
