Iran and Russia are set to conduct joint naval exercises on Wednesday in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean, Iranian media reported.
The planned drills are expected to take place in strategic waters linking the Middle East to key global shipping routes, underscoring growing military cooperation between the two countries.
While further operational details were not immediately disclosed, the exercises are likely to focus on enhancing maritime security coordination and strengthening joint naval capabilities.
The Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean are considered strategically significant due to their proximity to vital energy transit corridors and international trade routes.
Tehran and Moscow have held similar joint naval drills in recent years, describing them as part of efforts to bolster regional security and expand defense collaboration. The upcoming maneuvers come amid heightened geopolitical tensions and increased naval activity in the broader region.
