Iran confirmed on Thursday that it will sue former US President Donald Trump and his administration officials at the international level after presidential immunity ends

Iran accuses the former US President of the crimes he has committed against the Iranian people.

In an exclusive statement with Sputnik, a Russian news agency,  Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Humanitarian and International Affairs, Mohsen Baharvand, said that Iran will definitely follow up the case of the suing Trump and his administration officials at the international level.

The Iranian official indicated that other regulations may be issued that include people on the list of terrorism.

In response to a question about the end of Donald Trump's presidency and the loss of his political immunity, should he be concerned about international prosecution and even prosecution for acts and crimes against Iran, Baharvand responded "Yes, nothing can undermine the responsibility of the person who committed the crime.

A criminal cannot go unpunished and his background is totally unacceptable.

The Iranian official stressed that Tehran will continue suing Trump and his close aides until the end.

"He should be held accountable for the crimes and assassinations of General Qassem Soleimani, who admitted this even in his last speech and was proud of it. We hope that we will hold him accountable for the crime he committed," Baharvand added.

The Iranian judiciary had submitted a request to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to issue a red notice and arrest (US President Donald) Trump and the rest of those involved in the assassination of the former commander Soleimani.

Baharvand stressed that  48 persons involved in the assassination of Soleimani have been identified, including the US President, leaders and officials in the US Department of Defense ( Pentagon) and states in the Middle East area.

He revealed that those names were handed over to Interpol.

Soleimani, and Abu Mahdi, the leading commander in the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, were killed on January 3, 2020, in an American raid targeting their convoy near Baghdad International  Airport.
