Iran has executed two men convicted of spying for Israel, according to Iranian media reports, in a move that underscores rising security tensions amid ongoing regional conflict.
Authorities in Iran said the two individuals, identified as Yaqoub Karimpour and Nasser Bakrzadeh, were hanged after being found guilty of collaborating with Israeli intelligence, including the Mossad.
According to judicial sources cited by local media, one of the men was accused of transmitting sensitive information to a Mossad officer, while the other allegedly gathered intelligence on government and religious figures, as well as key sites including the Natanz Nuclear Facility in central Iran.
The executions come amid heightened scrutiny from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, which said earlier this week that at least nine people linked to protests in January 2026 and ten suspected members of opposition groups had also been executed since the outbreak of hostilities following US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February.
