Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi voiced serious concern over the escalating Israeli military operations in Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza during a high-level phone call, calling for coordinated regional efforts to curb instability.
The two ministers discussed the growing threats to regional security posed by what they described as Israel’s aggressive and expansionist policies. Araghchi strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes in Syria and southern Lebanon, as well as the ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip, labeling the situation in Gaza a “genocide.”
“These continued attacks are a direct threat to peace and stability in the region,” Araghchi said, urging collective action from neighboring countries to resist policies that promote conflict and territorial expansion.
In turn, Foreign Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s firm stance in support of Syria’s unity and territorial integrity. He also emphasized Cairo’s opposition to any efforts to divide the country or undermine the rights of its ethnic and religious minorities.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s commitment to a political resolution in Syria and broader regional efforts to de-escalate tensions and preserve state sovereignty.
The conversation comes amid heightened tensions following a surge in Israeli airstrikes across the region and a continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, sparking renewed diplomatic activity among Middle Eastern powers seeking to contain the fallout.
