Iran confirmed, on Monday, the possibility of reversing the measures it took to reduce its nuclear commitments if the 2015 agreement with major powers was revived.

Tehran and six major powers concluded an agreement on the nuclear program, which allowed for the lifting of sanctions in exchange for restricting its nuclear activities, but the United States unilaterally withdrew from it in 2018.

Washington re-imposed harsh sanctions, and Iran responded after about a year by starting to gradually withdraw from most of its basic commitments.

Iran and the parties to the agreement (France, Britain, Germany, Russia, and China), with indirect American participation, have held talks in Vienna since April 2021 with the aim of reviving the agreement.

But these talks practically stopped in March, with points of disagreement remaining between Washington and Tehran, despite confirmation of negotiators that the understanding is almost completed.
