On Tuesday, the Iranian Air Force inaugurated its first military installation underground, according to Tasnim News Agency.

Major Generals Mohammad Hossein Baqeri and Abdolrahim Mousavi, the commander of the Iranian Army, paid a visit to the underground air base known as Oghab-44 (Eagle-44).

Fighter jets, bombers, and unmanned aerial vehicles can all be accommodated at the tactical airbase and prepared for missions.

An alert area, command post, warplane hangars, repair and maintenance centre, navigation and airport equipment, and fuel tanks are just a few of the parts that make up the underground complex.

The sizable underground airbase can also receive and prepare for missions the Air Force's new fighter jets.

Oghab-44 is one of the several Air Force tactical underground bases that have been built recently throughout Iran taking into account the operational needs of the Air Force units and the needs of civil defence.

These bases, which were built in accordance with requirements and with a high safety factor, are positioned beneath hilly terrain to enable the employment of surprise aircraft operations in locations and at times that the adversaries wouldn't anticipate.

The fighter jets are housed in the underground bases in secure areas, and the planes are equipped with electronic warfare equipment as well as a variety of bombs and missiles, such as the Yasin, Qaem, and Asef, which enable standoff aerial operations and increase the strategic range of attacks against distant targets.

A drone base known as "Drone Base 313" that was underground has already been revealed by the Iranian Air Force. The developments of recent years suggest that the Air Force has elaborate plans to build underground bases throughout Iran.
