In collaboration with the human rights sector of the Ministry of Justice and the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TiP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), organized three introductory lectures in the field of combating trafficking in persons for 180 employees of the General Court of the Ministry of Justice.

The lectures featured a presentation on IOM’s role and mandate in Egypt, the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, next to the supplementing Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, as well as the National Trafficking in Persons Law No. 64 of 2010, and the available protection and services provided for victims of trafficking in Egypt, according to a statement issued by IOM.

These informational sessions were sponsored by the European Union within the scope of the Regional Development and Protection Programme (RDPP).

These lectures support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 10 “Reduced Inequalities” and number 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”.

In addition to this, the three lectures support the fulfillment of goal no. 7 “Reduce Vulnerabilities”, and 10 “Eradicate Trafficking” of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM).

The three lectures featured an appearance by Naela Gabr, the Chairperson of The National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking, and a number of governmental officials.
