AUC Tahrir is hosting a photo exhibition entitled: “Life through the Eyes of a Migrant” on April 4-5.
The photos displayed at the exhibition were taken by migrant women who got to tell their stories through the lenses of their cameras, according to IOM.
“Life through the eye of a migrant” is a photography exhibition that IOM Egypt organized on the 3rd of April to showcase the real stories of 15 migrant women, from Sudan, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Libya, and Somalia.
The exhibition was the result of a capacity-building activity focusing on delivering the basic knowledge of photography to the migrant women where they were trained and given space to capture their precious moments.
This initiative empowered those migrants to take control over their current realities, connect with other women, and access their potential, enabling them to move past their daily challenges and create a better livelihood for themselves and their families.
Photography has always proved to be a powerful tool for storytelling. It allows the photographers to tell their stories through the special angles of their lenses.
The exhibition is organized under the framework of the "Aware Migrants" project and was generously funded by the U.S. Department of State: Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration under its ARMP Cairo Sub-regional office.
