The Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) recently launched the "Egypt Museum: A Journey Through History" program on its official social media platforms, coinciding with International Museum Day. This initiative aims to highlight Egypt's rich heritage and cultural treasures, while rediscovering museums that showcase stories, documents, and rare artifacts which may be unfamiliar to many. These elements chronicle the nation's history and cultural memory.
The program offers public tours of several unique and specialized museums that represent vibrant chapters of Egyptian history in medicine, art, literature, heritage, and culture. The tours begin at the Naguib Pasha Mahfouz Museum of Embryology at the Faculty of Medicine, Kasr El Aini, and continue through the National Library and Archives Museum and the Zaafaran Palace at Ain Shams University.
Participants will also visit museums dedicated to pioneers of art and heritage, including the Umm Kulthum Museum, the Prince Mohamed Ali Museum, the Museum of Islamic Ceramics, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), and the Railway Museum.
The program focuses on presenting visual and documentary content, reimagining the museum as a space for storytelling and knowledge rather than merely a display of artifacts.
This initiative is part of the efforts by the Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet to promote cultural and intellectual awareness, introduce heritage institutions and specialized museums that play a crucial role in Egypt's soft power, and highlight the government's efforts in developing museums, preserving and promoting heritage, and providing meaningful digital content that connects new generations with their history and civilization.
