Anne Rice's best-selling 1976 literary debut, "Interview with the Vampire", is set to be adapted into a TV series for AMC and its streaming service AMC+.

The series consists of 8 episodes and is set to premiere in 2022. Rice and her son Christopher will executive produce the project, which comes as a part of the cable network's deal to adapt 18 of her titles.

"Interview with the Vampire" will be overseen by three-time Emmy nominee Rolin Jones, who co-created HBO's "Perry Mason" reboot last year.

No one has been cast yet in the new adaptation of the American horror classic, which will also be overseen by Oscar-winning producer Mark Johnson.

Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" and "Mayfair Witches" franchises have sold more than 150M books worldwide.

Plans for a multiple-show universe come as AMC TV series  "The Walking Dead" and "Breaking Bad" are coming to a close.

In 1994, the novel was adapted into a movie bearing the same title and starred Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, Kirsten Dunst, and Thandiwe Newton.
