Prominent political sources in Beirut are betting that with the advent of the new year, the door will open for the Lebanese presidential election to enter a new phase different from the current one.

The current phase witnesses the continued disruption of the election of a president and the extension of the vacancy in the first presidency.

Lebanese sources confirm that the army commander, General Joseph Aoun, presented as a candidate for the presidency, who enjoys regional and international support. He officially announces his candidacy.

As the political sources confirm, the fact that the name of the army commander came forward as a candidate for the presidency of the republic does not mean at all that the opposition has abandoned its support for Representative Michel Moawad, and it will try to compensate for his decline, by expanding the range of his supporters in the election session next Thursday.

However, indications say that the session will end like its predecessors, and its convening comes as a matter of raising the blame.
