Interior Minister, Iraqi Counterpart Discuss Boosting Co-op

Egypt's Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik received on Monday his Iraqi counterpart Othman al-Ghanimi, who is currently visiting Cairo, heading a high-level delegation. 

 

 

During the meeting, they discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation between Interior ministries of both countries and means to support it, as well as the latest regional security issues.

 

At the outset of the meeting, the Iraqi minister hailed Egypt's Interior ministry agencies' efforts and their effective role in combating terrorism and extremist organizations.

 

 

He also noted that his visit to Cairo comes within the framework of close relations and continuous consultation between officials of the two countries, stressing his country's interest in exchanging experiences with the Egyptian security services, which are known for their efficiency.

 

 

On his part, Tawfik underlined the importance of his Iraqi counterpart’s visit to Cairo in the context of exchanging security visions related to combating terrorism and extremist ideology at the regional level.
