Egyptian Minister of interior Major General Mahmoud Tawfik sent on Wednesday a cable of congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the occasion of the anniversary of the 10th of Ramadan (October War) victory.
Noteworthy, Egypt won the 6 October 1973 War against Israel. The victory paved the way for the return of the occupied Sinai Peninsula to Egypt after the Camp David Peace Accords were signed with Israel in 1979.While the state celebrates the anniversary of the war on both the Hijri and Gregorian calendars, citizens only take the annual Gregorian anniversary of the war on 6 October as a national holiday.
