The Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference is set to officially commence in Islamabad tomorrow, with parliamentary delegations from various countries continuing to arrive for the event. So far, representatives from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Palestine, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Morocco, the Maldives, Barbados, Kenya, Serbia, the Philippines, and Rwanda have reached the Pakistani capital.
This year’s conference will be held under the theme “Peace, Security and Development.” Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq are scheduled to address the gathering.
Organized by the Senate of Pakistan, the conference will be chaired by Chairman Gilani, who will also hold bilateral meetings with visiting parliamentary leaders.
The event underscores Pakistan’s active role in global parliamentary diplomacy and serves to reinforce its international image as a nation committed to peace, cooperation, and constructive engagement on shared challenges.
