Instagram to Release New Story Feature

Instagram announced on Tuesday it is testing a new layout for Stories on desktop that puts Stories into a carousel. According to GizChina report, the navigation on Insta Stories will remain the same. The users will be able to manually scroll through the Stories or let them switch or change automatically.

Meanwhile, an Instagram spokesperson confirmed that the new layout is currently available to a small group of Instagram users on Desktop. However, any details about a wider rollout or whether this new layout is here to stay are not yet out.

Later, Instagram presented two new features to help combat Coronavirus misinformation for users in areas with surging cases. The users saw a link to their local health authority at the top of their feed and anyone searching for vaccine information will also be directed to credible health sources.

These measures will be taken in addition to the social network blocking hashtags that contain vaccine misinformation.

The features come as many platform companies take steps to keep coronavirus misinformation from spreading at a vital time for the US, as health institutions struggle with record hospitalizations and the first of the approved Coronavirus vaccines start to roll out.
