Instagram Lets Users Reset Content Recommendations

Instagram has introduced a new feature allowing users to reset the platform's recommendation algorithm, giving them greater control over the content displayed across their feeds.

The "Reset Suggested Content" option, located under Content Preferences, affects recommendations on the Home feed, Explore page and Reels section, but does not alter ads or accounts users already follow.

Before resetting recommendations, users can filter out accounts and topics they are no longer interested in and choose categories of advertising they wish to see less frequently.

Following the reset, Instagram's algorithm will gradually rebuild content preferences based on user interactions, including posts they engage with or mark as "Interested" or "Not Interested."

The feature is part of broader efforts by parent company Meta Platforms to improve personalization and user experience. Meta began testing the tool in late 2024 before rolling it out more widely.
