On Thursday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, nephew of late President John F Kennedy, had his Instagram account permanently taken down "for repeatedly sharing debunked claims", Facebook-owned Instagram said in a statement.
However; his Facebook account remains active despite similar claims posted there, with Facebook noting that it has no plan to remove the page “at this time.”
Furthermore; Facebook has vowed to remove false claims about Covid-19 vaccines to prevent "imminent physical harm."
These claims have included linking the death of legendary baseball player Hank Aaron to the Covid-19 vaccine.
Kennedy has claimed that Aaron’s death was due to Moderna vaccine; as he died 18 days after receiving the vaccine.
“Hank Aaron's tragic death is part of a wave of suspicious deaths among elderly closely following administration of COVID vaccines,” he said on Twitter. “He received the Moderna vaccine on Jan. 5 to inspire other Black Americans to get the vaccine.”
He is believed to be one of the top spreaders of COVID-19 misinformation by the nonprofit organization Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), according to WSJ.
The prominent anti-vaccine activist, who had over 800,000 followers on the platform, founded Children’s Health Defense, which CCDH calls a leading anti-vaccine charity.
