Russia and Ukraine have intensified reciprocal attacks, with both sides targeting key infrastructure in a sharp escalation of hostilities.
Ukrainian officials said Kyiv carried out counterstrikes in Krasnodar Krai, claiming damage to several electricity facilities. In response, Russian forces launched heavy strikes on railway infrastructure in Odesa Oblast, particularly in the city of Odesa.
Ukraine’s military administration described the railway attacks as attempts to disrupt civilian logistics but said freight and passenger traffic continued despite the damage. Authorities reported three fatalities in recent Russian strikes and said air defenses neutralized 83 drones.
Air raid sirens were also heard in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, reflecting the widening geographical scope of the confrontation.
Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed a proposed election framework with U.S. envoys, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire lasting no less than two months to create suitable conditions for a vote.
The latest exchanges underscore a deepening military confrontation alongside tentative diplomatic discussions, with no immediate signs of de-escalation.
