Egypt has reached a new milestone in the construction of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant with the installation of the reactor pressure vessel for the project's second nuclear unit, according to an infographic released by the Egyptian Cabinet. The reactor pressure vessel is one of the most critical components of a nuclear reactor, housing the reactor core where nuclear fission takes place. It is engineered to withstand extremely high temperatures and pressure while meeting the highest international nuclear safety and quality standards.

The El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, Egypt's first nuclear facility for electricity generation, will consist of four nuclear power units, each with a generating capacity of 1,200 megawatts, for a combined installed capacity of 4,800 megawatts. The plant is being built using Generation III+ VVER-1200 reactor technology, one of the world's most advanced nuclear reactor designs.

Egyptian officials say the project will strengthen the country's energy security, diversify electricity generation sources and support sustainable economic development. The project is also expected to facilitate the transfer of nuclear technology and expertise while highlighting the strategic partnership between Egypt and Russia in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, the Cabinet said.
