 Egypt is strengthening its pharmaceutical industry through expanded local production, increased exports and investment in advanced manufacturing, according to an infographic released by the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), the Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Industry and the Cabinet.

 The infographic shows that the country has more than 170 pharmaceutical factories operating over 1,000 production lines, producing medicines, vaccines and medical supplies. Local manufacturers currently meet more than 90% of Egypt's domestic pharmaceutical demand, while the sector is valued at more than EGP 250 billion annually, making it one of the largest pharmaceutical markets in the Middle East and Africa.

The infographic highlights that Egyptian pharmaceutical products are exported to more than 150 international markets, with government efforts focused on expanding exports, localizing the production of strategic medicines and attracting investment in biotechnology, vaccines, oncology drugs, diabetes treatments and medical supplies. Officials say these initiatives are intended to strengthen healthcare security, create highly skilled jobs, promote technology transfer and position Egypt as a leading regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and exports.
