Egypt recorded a historic rise in foreign direct investment (FDI), with net inflows reaching US$46.6 billion during fiscal year 2024/2025, according to an infographic citing data from the Central Bank of Egypt, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), and the Cabinet. The figure is more than six times higher than the previous fiscal year and represents an annual increase of US$42.1 billion, marking the highest level of FDI in the country's history.
The infographic highlights that investment continues to be driven by key sectors including energy and renewable energy, real estate and urban development, industry and manufacturing, transport and logistics, and information and communications technology. It also points to Egypt's competitive advantages, including a domestic market of more than 100 million consumers, 15 free trade agreements providing access to markets of over 3 billion consumers, 9 major commercial seaports, and 7,000 kilometers of newly developed roads. Major national projects such as the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the New Administrative Capital, New Alamein City, and green hydrogen and renewable energy projects are expected to further strengthen investment, boost exports, create jobs, and support long-term economic growth.
