Egypt is accelerating its ambitions to become a regional clean energy hub through an expanding portfolio of green hydrogen and green ammonia projects, according to an infographic released by the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), the Cabinet, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
The infographic highlights more than 30 agreements and memorandums of understanding signed with international companies and global alliances, representing over US$84 billion in expected investments across announced projects.
The projects are concentrated in Ain Sokhna, East Port Said and the Suez Canal Economic Zone, with more than 20 projects under development targeting the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, primarily for export to European and international markets. The initiative forms part of Egypt Vision 2030, which seeks to position the country as a leading producer and exporter of clean energy. The infographic also notes that partnerships with companies from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Norway, Germany, France, India, China, Belgium, Denmark and the United Kingdom are expected to strengthen foreign investment, create thousands of jobs, reduce carbon emissions and expand Egypt's clean energy exports.
