Indonesia's Volcano Eruption Causes Evacuation of 150 Persons

On Friday, Daily Express reported that the Indonesian most active volcano, Mount Merapi in Java Island, has erupted once again causing an emergency evacuation of surrounding villages.

No injuries or deaths were reported since the latest volcanic activity sparked however, more than 150 people were placed in a temporary shelter near Yogyakarta.

The head of Indonesia's Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center Dr. Pak Kasbani highlighted that the volcano "spewed" out hot clouds at least 30 times since last Wednesday.

In the same context, the center revealed that the volcano's activity is very high.

Last November, the Mount Merapi volcano erupted fiercely causing the evacuation of at least 2,780 in 26 villages and fired smoke around 2.5 miles in the sky.

Indonesia has almost 130 active volcanoes due to its location on the geographical 'Ring of Fire’.

In 2010, the volcano has erupted three times left 353 people dead. On the other hand, 200,000 lost their homes, and 320,000 people were displaced.
