Indonesia plans to boost its contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) by $1.2 million annually as a tangible form of support for Palestinian refugees.

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that the government, through its Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Arrmanatha Nasir, pledged this commitment at the UNRWA pledging conference held at the UN headquarters in New York last Friday, according to Indonesia’s Antara news agency.

Starting in 2024, Indonesia will increase its regular voluntary contributions by $1.2 million per year.

Moreover, Indonesia is committed to providing a $2 million grant to address urgent needs outlined in UNRWA's emergency appeal from April to December 2024.

Furthermore, Indonesia expressed its commitment to seeking innovative funding solutions for UNRWA, including engaging the Indonesian community and exploring partnerships with Zakat management institutions.
