The Embassy of India in Cairo celebrated the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2 October 2024.
Ambassador Ajit Gupte paid floral tribute at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at Al-Horreya Park, Zamalek, Cairo. The event was graced by the General Mohamed Sultan, Head of the Specialized Parks, Cairo Governorate.
On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture organized 'Caricature Exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi’ in collaboration with the Fayoum Caricature Museum and the Egypt Cartoon Platform to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 1 October 2024 at its premises.
This caricature exhibition included 40 caricatures of Gandhiji drawn by artists from 12 countries including India, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Romania, Indonesia, Colombia, Cyprus, Poland, Cuba, Spain, Bosnia, Herzegovina and Egypt.
In his opening remarks while inaugurating the Exhibition, Ambassador Ajit Gupte emphasized the importance of Gandhiji’s principles of non-violence, peace & cleanliness (Swachhata).
He urged all to incorporate these values in their daily lives. He further added that the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti here in Cairo is a testament to the strong and enduring relationship between India and Egypt.
Our two nations share a rich history of cultural exchange and mutual respect. Gandhi ji’s ideals resonate deeply with the values of both our countries, fostering a bond that transcends borders.
