During his meeting with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Indian Foreign Minister (FM) S. Jaishankar reaffirmed New Delhi's commitment to enhancing bilateral relations in a way that benefits the people of both nations and the broader region.
India's NDTV, in its English-language bulletin, reported that this meeting took place during Jaishankar's official three-day visit to the Maldives, which was made at the invitation of his Maldivian counterpart, Mohamed Aslam, to reset bilateral relations between the two countries.
The channel also noted that Jaishankar met with Maldivian Defense Minister Hassan Mamoun during the visit, where they discussed bilateral security cooperation and the maintenance of peace and stability in the region as part of their shared interests.
This marks the first visit by a senior Indian official to the Maldives following Mohamed Muizzu's assumption of the presidency last year.
