Indian Billionaire Gautam Adani has added billions to his fortune than anyone else in the world this year on the back of his investments in ports and power plants.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the net worth of Adani has jumped $16.2 billion in 2021 to $50 billion. He has achieved a remarkable milestone amid the pandemic, adding the highest wealth to his fortune.

Adani, now the 26th richest person in the world, even beat two of world's richest billionaires, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, in terms of wealth generation in 2021.

Musk has added $10.3 billion to his net worth so far in 2021, while Bezos has added $7.59 billion, making the Indian self-made billionaire the biggest wealth gainer of the year.

Adani's wealth gain beat both tycoons after his group shares, except for one, jumped at least 50% in 2021. New gains highlighted the growing weight of the self-made billionaire, who has attracted investment from Total SA to Warburg Pincus.

He managed to expand his company rapidly, adding ports, airports, data centers and coal mines in India, while persistently pursuing the controversial Carmichael coal project in Australia.

His Total Gas, the best performer in the group, jumped 97% this year, while Adani Enterprises increased by up to 87%.

Moreover, Adani Transmission rose By 77%, and Adani Power, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone rose more than 50% in 2021. Adani Green Energy climbed 10% so far, after rising over 500% in 2020.
