On the 6th of December, Indian officials alongside Bangladesh high-ranking envoys throughout nine selected countries around the world including Egypt will celebrate ''Maitri Diwas Day”, which is immensely significant in the history of Bangladesh-India bilateral relations.
In view of the 50th anniversary of the Independence of Bangladesh as well as the establishment of their historical bilateral diplomatic ties, both Indian and Bangladesh embassies have decided to jointly celebrate these epochal events at the fascinated Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis district in Cairo.
The'Maitri Diwas Day' coincides with the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh that marks the founding of the Republic of Bangladesh, according to Bangladesh Ambassador to Egypt Md. Monirul Islam.

Earlier, the Indian embassy in Egypt revealed that it holds several celebrations this week featuring many performances by a perse troupe with an international outlook, the 12-member Anveshana Dance Theatre group, led by Ms. Sangeeta Sharma, on 02 December at Ismailia Cultural Palace at Ismailia, on 04 December at Port Said Cultural Palace at Port Said, and on 07 December at Sayed Darwish Theatre, Alexandria.
It's worth mentioning that India was a leading external power in supporting the emergence of a free and independent Bangladesh. Throughout the Cold war, Bangladesh received critical support from Indian leaders for the cause of liberation.
